Creativity....

Creativity is a funny thing.  At least for me.  It comes and goes with no rhyme or reason.  I can't seem to keep mine flowing steadily.  Maybe it's just not meant to be.  Maybe I am meant to appreciate the beauty, art, and creativity that I see in the world around me but maybe I am not meant to be hands on with it. When I make something, it is good.  I recognize that.  But it does not come easily and certainly not frequently.  The burning NEED that I once felt to create has been gone for  sometime now. Maybe it will never be back....

Tell me about your struggles with creativity...do you have any?  How do you deal with them?

Sewn Paper Collages

I've been playing with sewn paper collages and having a blast!  These are absolutely out of the norm for me.  Much softer in color and feel but I love doing them, mainly because they are quick and easy....no gluing, no waiting for gel medium to dry, etc.  I just dig around in my hoard of paper scraps and images, dig out some vintage lace and fabric scraps and start sewing the bits and pieces to an old book page.  I finish off with a little scribble of Neocolors to highlight and it's done.  I love the torn and tattered feeling of the ripped paper edges and the hanging threads.  These look great hanging on the wall as is or framed in a distressed vintage frame. Creativity....

It seems the floodgates have opened and the creativity is finally flowing once again!  This gypsy has had such a long dry spell, the art supplies were about to be sold off.  Something changed though, I'm not certain what exactly (more about this later), but bursts of  inspiration and sessions of feverish art making are filling the hours.  The gypsy camp is partying and dancing into the wee hours in celebration!  I'll start posting pictures soon but for now it's back to the celebration.....
